Travel to Kasol was a destination that I had been eyeing for quite some time. The whole prospect of tranquil landscapes, rich cultures, and crisp mountain air finally became too much for me to resist. So, when an opportunity finally rose for a quick escape, I immediately packed up my backpack and set off for what would be an unforgettable journey.
The Journey to Travel to Kasol
My journey started from Delhi overnight by bus to Bhuntar, the closest town to Kasol. The journey by winding roads with massive mountains and greenery on either side set in the first sign of what lay ahead. The first views of the Parvati River flowing beside the road at break of dawn literally took my breath away. From Bhuntar, I caught a local bus that passed through narrow roads bordered by apple orchards and picturesque villages before finally reaching Kasol.
First Impression About Kasol
Entering into Travel to Kasol, you feel that this is a world of yours only. This small village, laid-back and with warm locals, captivated me from the very first moment of arrival. The freshness in the air, with a tinge of pine, was accompanying extra peace in the background with the sound of the gurgling Parvati River. First, I checked into a nice guesthouse with a balcony from where one can get brilliant views of the mountains all around.
Kasol is a backpackers’ haven, and it didn’t take me long to see why. It’s this really interesting blend of traditional Himachal culture and a thriving hippie scene. So the next day was all about getting lost in the narrow lanes, finding nth local cafés, and chatting away with fellow travelers. Cafés in Kasol are famous for their sumptuous Israeli food, and I couldn’t help but order a shakshuka with hummus at a local eatery.
The Kasol market was a sure shot delight. The market isn’t big, but a lot is going on with the quirky shops selling everything from woolen clothes to handmade jewelry. I ended up buying a couple of souvenirs, including a beautiful handmade bracelet.

Trek to Chalal
The next day, I wanted to see Chalal, another very picturesque village nearby and renowned for its trails and peaceful atmosphere. Now, almost a cakewalk, in fact, this is a good trek for novices. A little further, and the trail trails through dense forests, attaining the heights from where the Parvati is meandering silently, offering splendid views at every turn.
As I walked, I felt a sense of serenity all around, with only the sound of chirping birds and rustling of leaves underfoot to break the silence. After about an hour of trekking, finally Chalal approached me with all its hidden prettiness—this humble village with houses of wood and locals full of amiability. I spent my afternoon in Chalal, soaking in the beauty of the place, before heading back to Travel to Kasol.
Exploring Manikaran
I looked forward to visiting a place known as Manikaran, located in this holy town just a few minutes’ drive from Kasol. It is especially famous for its hot springs and the Gurudwara that sits beside it. This area is a valued pilgrimage site for Sikhs and Hindus. The drive to Manikarn was scenic, with the Parvati River running beside me.
The hot springs of Manikarna are said to be curative, and a bath in the warm waters really refreshed us. The Gurudwara itself was a haven of peace, and I sat in the prayer hall for some time, absorbing the peaceful atmosphere. The langar was delightful, and it was really heartwarming to see the spirit of volunteering.
Hiking to Kheer ganga
Travel to Kasol is never complete without the Kheerganga trek, and I was sure not to give it a miss. The 12 km trek was moderately tough, but the views from the top are rewarding for every step. Along the way are thick forests, waterfalls, and crossing-over wooden bridges. Though steep at parts, the sight of snow-capped peaks in the distance kept me motivated.
Getting to Kheer Ganga was one amazing experience; reaching way up there, you could see that the lush green meadow is circled with proper mountains. The hot springs of the place are just the right reward for the trek. We spent the night in a tent, under the starlit sky.
The People of Kasol
What made my trip special were the people I met on the way. The people in Kasol are very kind-hearted and warm. The local people of this place, though it teems with tourists, have been able to keep their identity and culture intact and have stories of their own to tell. I also met fellow travelers from all over the world who had their own tales of adventure.
Sharing stories by the bonfire under the starlit sky is a memory that I will cherish forever. It reminds me that travel is not only loved universally, but it is also something that binds people together, no matter where one is from

Final Thoughts
As the days in Travel to Kasol waned , I somehow felt uneasy leaving the place. The ambiance, countryside, and feeling of being with the community in that small village all made me have lasting impressions. Kasol is more than a destination; it is a feeling, which makes time nearly slow, and one is able to relate to their inner selves and with nature better.
As I boarded the bus back to Delhi, I knew that Kasol had given me much more than beautiful memories. It gave me the respect I needed to have for the simplest of pleasures and kept filling me up with a feeling of deep-seated peace that was going to last long after the mountains disappeared behind me.
A destination with such a unique blend of natural beauty and cultural richness must definitely be visited by every traveler at least once. Be it adventure, tranquility, or just a break from the cacophony of city life, in the magical land of Kasol, everything is wrapped in the serenity offered by the Himalayas.
